After a few months on hiatus from this project, I’m finally back in my friend Megan’s soon-to-be lash and make-up studio.  When I originally posted Gettin’ Set to Bat an Eyelash, we were still finalizing the overall esthetic, but the one thing Megan absolutley wanted no matter what was a “wow” factor. She wants her clients to feel like they’ve escaped ‘the valley’ and create a space where they want to hang out and get comfortable.

Now, it’s a tiny space, but anyone who knows me knows I LOVE SMALL SPACES.  Why?  Because it’s insanely EASY to make every square inch crazy good!  You can pack a whole lotta design into a small space and it’s also insanely easy to achieve not only a wow, but a jaw dropping “I can’t believe this is the same space” kind of wow!

And here’s how we are going to do it, with a DIY watercolor wall, more specifically, this wall.  watercolor wallI first stumbled across a take your breath away wall back in May and have been itching to try this ever since. I’ve never done this before but I’ve watched a few tutorials via youtube and read some other blog posts for tips and tricks and I’m gonna say I’m prepared to give this a whirl.  I mean, in the end, there’s no right or wrong, right?

I’m also hoping this takes less time to “watercolor” than straight up painting a wall because from watching the videos, you paint some lines, spray some water and depending on what look you’re going for, you “whitewash” over some spots.  Maybe it will, maybe it won’t be one thing is for certain, NO TAPING (not that I ever tape anyway, much to my dad’s dismay).

And then, after the paint dries, and we’ve set the foundation for the WOW factor with a stunning watercolored wall, it’s time to layer on the modern bohemian vibe I’ve curated over the last 8 weeks and then the fun really begins!

As for now, here the before…

wall and rug window and pillows

and stay tuned for the after!  I’ll do my best to take some photos of our masterpiece in progress and who knows, maybe even sneak in a video or two of Megan and I in action.

And if you’re loving this watercolor wall effect as much as I am, I’ve put together a Pinterest Board with the best out there.  There aren’t a ton of photos to be found but soon enough you’ll see ours!

And in case you missed it the first time or want to check out the vibe we’re creating for Megan’s Lash Studio, you can view products and inspiration on my not so cleverly named board, Design Client: Lash Studio.

Wish me luck!
