One week ago today I was just getting back to Los Angeles after a whirlwind trip to the beautiful city of Chicago where I met all the lovely ladies from Create + Cultivate.  And while the conference was filled with inspirational women taking charge and living their dreams in the digital world, I have to admit the one thing I cannot stop thinking about is Lulu and Gerogia, one of the event’s pop up shops.   And to be honest I have no idea how I have survived so long without discovering this priceless gem of a home design resource that I actually had to ask my design minded friends if I failed epically or if L&G was just playing hard to get under the radar…somewhere?

I mean, I have put a search engine to the test when it comes to textiles, especially rugs, and was quite literally floored in Chicago when I rested my feet upon absolute woven perfection over and over and over again.  But thankfully (or not), I was not alone in this decor shattering discovery and now have all my friends drooling right along with me asking the same question, where oh where have you been hiding?

An online home decor boutique that screams everything California Chic, Lulu and Georgia makes me yearn for my single life where everything was simply put, pretty.  As the only living thing in my home who identifies as female, and this includes the dog, I have never once wished for anything but my three beautiful little boys and my 98% of the time wonderful husband.  But that suddenly changed the moment I tried to mentally lay down the Elodie Rug by Glitter Guide in my home.  I had no place feminine or soft, no spot light and airy, no room saved from dirt and noise that this little beauty could shine and thrive.  And I want one.  I need one, or something Lulu and Georgia in my life ASAP.   I want to feel that pretty and that happy all day, every day.

Now, don’t get me wrong, my home is hardly a man cave littered with stinky sports equipment and oversized recliners fashioned with cup holders.  I’m actually very lucky to have a husband with 89% of the time great taste too.  But pinks and blushes are hues reserved for tiny tushies streaking through the living room after tub time, not gorgeous textiles that make pretty a confident and chic state of mind in which to reside.   But pretty they are  — and oh so much more.

Lulu and Georgia is easily that girl you envy — the effortlessly pretty one with a can’t go wrong attitude so go ahead and pile on the prints and indulge in the textures kind of pretty that epitomizes the California girl.   The one you wish you could hate but you can’t because her beauty is too pure or too raw or too adventurous and just being in her presence makes you feel prettier too so you chose to stay close instead and bask in anything that rubs off on you.  And like that,  I just want to dive into their decor, roll around in their aesthetic and then live happily ever after in their lookbooks and hope they never kick me out either.  I want to style every inch of my home in the casual but confident, refined yet bohemian, easy breezy lifestyle they have so brilliantly captured and curated in all that L&G offers.

And that’s the best part, it’s one stop shopping to deck your floors, your walls and every inch in-between.  It’s furniture you want to lounge in and pillows in techicolor.  It’s art for your walls and gifts to give and novelties to entertain with — because they aren’t just selling you home decor, they are banking on you buying the entire California lifestyle, pouf, rug and side chair.  And I am in!  Way in!  So that being said, and feel free to mark my words or warn my husband, I will find a way, come little boys or grown men, to add Lulu and Georgia to my home overhaul!  I’ve only just begun…and I saw leather a plenty and neutrals by the dozen to fool them with.
