Love Life Like Lindsey – Inspiration Provided!

As I work on making sure Lindsey’s Hughes (a.k.a. BeautyBaby44) new loft is everything her heart desires plus all she never knew she wanted or needed, I find myself in very familiar territory — scouring Pinterest and the design blogs du jour in search of new ways to capture her creative spirit and nail them to the wall, literally. Maybe you guessed it — I’m dreaming up her collage wall. And I say this is familiar territory because it was less than 6 months ago that I carved out my own little office space and filled it with happy reminders of what makes me tick, what keeps me engaged and what keeps me connected to a life filled with bliss. So revisiting this kind of inspirational project for Lindsey is both fresh in my mind and one I’m truly looking forward too.

Now, what’s the plan? For starters, this is the wall prepping for a makeover — the wall with the vanity.

And the vanity itself is actually a makeover in waiting too, which is why the wall itself is still dressed in basic white. I didn’t want to jump the gun on the vanity before Lindsey had a chance to see her place and green light what was already in place. But waiting for her seal of approval approval actually lead to a pretty cool brainstorm about the whole wall and the vanity and we decided to both paint and stencil the vanity — yet another project I’m dying to start — and once that is done, up goes the inspiration board to create an eye popping backdrop for all of Lindsey’s videos.

And here’s what I’m thinking for the wall itself and the creative collage. What I love about these images are the mixed uses of the wall, the mixed mediums in use to display the photos and the curated mixture of inspirations themselves. They use picture wires, shelves, cork board, washi tape and frames to corral the imagery to keep it loosely organized and still whimsical but far from a dorm room. Look closely and you’ll even see some hangers doing double duty here!

That’s right! There’s a little bit of everything here and why not? There are no rules when creativity and inspiration are the focus so do what ya gotta do to get inspired and be creative! The most important thing about claiming your space and adorning it with all that makes your heart smile, is that it does just that — makes YOUR heart smile, makes YOU happy and does the job — it INSPIRES YOU! So be bold if that’s what you want to say or be streamlined and organized, and edited if that’s what feels right. But whatever you decide, make sure it is 100% you — or at least 100% what will inspire you to be the you you dare to be.

As long as in the end, you make sure to have fun with this and be honest with yourself. Don’t simply go through the motions if you’re truly looking to use the board to move you, use this exercise to discover something new about yourself, get down to the nitty gritty of what drives you or recreate yourself and aspire to be more than you ever dared. Surround yourself with images and feelings of the life you want and let the inspiration rub off on you — you’ll be amazed how quickly things can turn around if you can step into that life every time you gaze at your new wall! Because believe it or not, your attitude has more power over your life than actions — and for most people, it’s not a bad idea to have a daily reminder of power of positivity.
